MSW Student Sessions with Erica Webster

Do you keep trying to pour from an empty cup?

Maybe you’re swinging between hyper-productivity and burnout, exhausted by masking your true self, or worn down by the constant work of advocating for your or your family’s needs. After giving to others – whether as a parent, friend, or partner – you might find there’s little energy left to take care of you. Day-to-day tasks feel harder than they should, and you can never quite seem to get ahead.

Your story doesn’t have to feel like this forever. Together, we can build the skills and support you need to turn the page and move forward – working with your unique brain instead of against it.

Hi, I’m Erica!

Erica Webster

I’m a Master of Social Work student currently offering reduced-fee sessions under the supervision of Hannah McGechie, MSW. I bring over 12 years of community-building work with 2SLGBTQ+ populations and my lived experience as a queer, ADHD mother to my practice. I’m a white, cisgender woman (she/her pronouns) who lives and works on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation (Ottawa, Ontario).

My social work background means I don’t view challenges in isolation: I see them in relation to larger social, cultural, and structural factors like systemic oppression and economic inequality. I practice through a narrative therapy lens, which emphasises that you as a person are not the problem. The problem is the problem. Together, we can explore how other people’s stories have shaped your experiences and begin rewriting them as feels right for you.

My practice is fully virtual and open to those based in Ontario. I am seeing clients between the hours of 9am and 3pm on Mondays. I am offering a student rate of $25 per session until the end of 2025. Please reach out today if you’re interested in working together.

I specialise in working with folks who are:

  • Neurodivergent (ADHD/autistic)

Discovering your neurodivergence can feel like both a revelation and a reckoning. Whether you were diagnosed as a kid or fell down a TikTok rabbit hole that gave you long-needed answers, your experiences and identities are valid. If you feel stretched thin by endless expectations or stuck in cycles of exhaustion, you’re not alone. I offer a space where you can explore what it means to live authentically as your full self – without apology or overextension.

  • Queer and/or trans (2SLGBTQ+)

Whether you want to discuss sexuality and gender identity or you’re just looking for a therapist you don’t need to explain your life context to, let’s talk. I bring extensive lived and professional experience with 2SLGBTQ+ communities to my practice and am committed to offering an affirming space as you navigate both the joys and challenges of existing as a queer and/or trans individual in our world.

  • Caregivers of ND & medically complex kids

Caregivers of neurodivergent and medically complex kids often face loneliness along with stigma, misunderstanding, and the pressure to meet expectations that don’t reflect their family’s reality. Balancing medical appointments and advocating for your child, while navigating complicated systems, can leave little room for your own needs. I offer judgement-free support as you process the highs and lows of this often-isolating journey.

Let’s talk about…

  • ADHD and autism, including PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance/Pervasive Drive for Autonomy)

  • Building and caring for your queer and/or trans family

  • Caregiver burnout

  • Gender identity and expression

  • Masking and its impacts on your life

  • Navigating fatphobia and sizeism

  • Parenting while neurodivergent

  • Perfectionism and imposter syndrome

  • Regulation and your nervous system

  • Sexual and/or romantic identity

  • Trauma and its ongoing effects

  • Whatever else is on your mind!

Interested in working together?

I understand that reaching out to a potential therapist can be daunting! My goal is to ensure you’re connected to the right supports for your unique needs. Please send me an email to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation. That time is yours to share what you’re hoping to get out of therapy and ask me any questions that may be on your mind.

If speaking by phone is a barrier for you, I am also happy to answer a few initial questions via email. Please note that, should you decide to proceed with therapy, all sessions must be conducted via Jane’s confidential videoconferencing platform.
